After seeing a clip from it a few years ago, I've really been wanting to watch this film for the last two years and finally sat down and watched it last night. Beautiful film.
Set during world war two, a jewish family living in occupied France come under scrutiny from the Nazi forces as their community is more and more ostracized by the invading forces. With the older brothers having to flee town, Hairdresser dad Roman (Patrick Bruel) tells his other two younger sons how he had to flee the town during war as a child too and tonight his two youngest sons must also do so to escape to a family in Nice till the wars over.
With a wad of cash and instructions, the two must venture out until they reach the free land and avoid getting captured, above all telling noone they are Jewish so that eventually they're family can reunite.
What a beautiful film, the two young leads Dorian Le Clech as Joffo and Batyste Fleurial as Maurice really carry this film, especially the former. As I supected from the clip I saw a few years ago, it's extremley well acted and shot - and directed. It really got me in the feels.
