Watched it for the first time in the new year, and of course loved it!
I don't know why I've never got round to seeing it especially as I've always loved Steve Martin (Man With Two Brains, Roxanne, All Of Me, Parenthood) since a kid. John Candy of course is another major bonus. Speaking of John Candy, of course he gives it here as usual making such a loveable character in any role he plays (Uncle Buck, Spaceballs etc). Usually Steve Martin plays very sarcastic characters but I don't think I've seen him do such a grumpy character, in this one there were points where I was like "too far, too far man!". Never saw the twist at the end coming, but yes a very funny film and one I would watch every year.

A yearly favorite of ours. The chemistry between Candy and Martin often made me wonder why they didn't pair them up in some more movies. You get a range of emotions from the movie, and you can really feel for Steve Martin's character, who just wants to get home to his family. And then Candy, who really has nowhere to go. The ending is heartwarming and always gets my wife teared up.
The scene of Martin at the airport is a lot to take in, lol, but it certainly got across the point of how frustrated he was getting, just trying to get home. Another John Hughes movie from an era where everything he touched seemed to turn to gold. Would have loved a sequel, or at least another film or two with both Martin and Candy starring.
