Finally got round to seeing it.
Well, what can I say - it felt very underwhelming. A little clumsy and put together by a first year film student. On the positive I will say that the kills, and the amount of kills and there gore rating was pretty creative' if not the most decent thing about the film. There's a part of me that thinks they did certain things for the sake of it and homage to the orignal. (I still don't get in the flashback with Michael attacking he moved with such speed it's like he suddenly had teleportation skills).
Speaking of the flashback, the "Donald Pleasance" was done incredibly well to be fair. Especially as it was more practical than digital fx, incredibly well done! Did not like the kid playing young Lonny either.
It get's a "meh" mediocre rating for me, good kills but overall with plot, pacing and direction a very average entry.

The pretty much sums up my opinion of the movie perfectly. Mediocre. I didn't have high hopes going in, I can't remember the last Halloween movie I did have high hopes for, so I wasn't terribly disappointed. But, with them touting this movie and the upcoming Halloween Ends as being the end of the franchise, I was kind of expecting more effort put into it. I can't see Halloween Ends being a lot better. Good kills I'm thinking and then bleh. Maybe I'm wrong, I'd love for it to blow me away. But, I'm very skeptical. We'll see.

Same, I will watch Halloween Kills again at some pointand see if my opion differs but it's just of those "Eh, I don't hate it - It's just eh..." Same with the latest James Bond film (Although I've only seen it once). I think that's the problem with anything that gets a sequel or continuation many years later. Indiana Jones and The Crystal Skull was "Eh", and I'm in no rush to see the new Ghostbusters movie, as much as I love the original, y'know?
