An unofficial sequel to the late 1930's Wizard of Oz, this children's fantasy both enthrilled and horrified me!
Six months since Dorothy Gale has returned home from Oz and she still can't sleep. She has been going on about imaginary places and people so much that Aunt Em takes her to see a special doctor. She promptly escapes from the mental hospital and wakes up in Oz where her pet hen, Billina, can now talk. There she meets a whole new bunch of friends, the clockwork Tik-Tok (aka the royal army of Oz), Jack Pumpkinhead, and Gump, and set off to rescue the Scarecrow from the evil Nome King who has found her ruby slippers and has used them to lay waste to the Emerald City and take over Oz. They must to defeat Mombie and the Nome King and restore the rightful ruler of Oz to the throne.
For all the goofiness of Jack Pumpkinhead and Gump, as a kid it was quite intimidating with the claymation of Nome King.the wheelers and the many heads of Princess Mombi! It's a lot of a darker film (Based on the third Oz book?) which itself was pretty dark, so true to the original feel of the books. The wheelers I found really disturbing! (C'mere, chicken!)
I love this movie though and it always has a special place in my heart. Anyone else?

This movie actually freaked me out. It still does. Those creepy Wheelers characters were so unique though. It was awesome how Aunt Em was played by the mother in Carrie! Piper Laurie is an amazing actress.

Like the post above says, this movie freaked me out. It was nothing like the original from 1939 and I wasn't a fan at all.
